Battery
If the unlock button on your key fob isn't working, it could be due to the battery being dead. A battery typically lasts between three and four years however, it could fail abruptly due to a variety of reasons. The majority of automakers have fail-safes which permit you to lock and start your vehicle, even if your key fob does not have a battery.
It's a great idea to clean the circuit board and the interior of the battery prior to replacing it. You can clean the inside and circuit board with cotton swabs soaked in 90 percent of alcohol. Then, you should let the swab dry for several days.
