World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can increase the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also boost extra bonuses like PvE damage and crit chance.
For example a weapon that has the upgrade item (love it) template ending in % will gain 3% attack damage every time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item upgrade's level. The cost increases as the item level rises.
Components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets in order to give them a boost in stats or to add an additional effect. They can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors, trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades also come with specific cosmetic effects.
upgrade item components can be placed in equipment that has a slot for them. The item level upgrade must be at least upgraded to the blue level to allow a component to be inserted. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied only once.
