We hauled water away from the neighbors (even though we had drilled the highly - we still needed a pump and a pressure tank and generators to pump the water). We were milk cow, Diesel Generator so we went through about 35 gallons water a day just on her behalf! That didn't include drinking water for us or water for laundry, cooking, dishes and care. We used a bucket with bags (located in shed) to find a bathroom. I did so laundry on a wood cook stove and hung it on racks in front of the stove to dry.
That is not a bad incentive when one considers that hot weather costs when compared with $200 to develop a decent functioning kit ourselves.
