Loose Cable

The nut on the shifter end of the cable must be tightened up to ensure there is no slack in the cable. This is especially important in the event that you drive your mercedes key programming with the gears set to park, because this can cause the shifter to move the cable by one-sixteenth inch or so, which may cause your key to get caught.
This loose cable could also cause your key to be tied to the steering wheel lock.
