The actual Tan Bark Trail runs up the Partington Creek's southern negative. There are three spots where it branches off deeper in the canyon's forests. Hikers that keep on the right as well as on the principle trail will ascend one side of the redwood canyon. Over four miles, the trail experiences a two-thousand foot ascendance in degree of lift. Climbing along the waterfalls of a roaring stream and springs that bubble from the hillsides, the trail charges through thich exotic oak stands and into manzanitas and venerable madrones.
