The Best item upgrade upgrade feature lets players increase the level of their weapon, armor and trinkets' levels and receive extra bonuses. They also give cosmetic effects.
Most items will appreciate in value when they are upgraded with a few exceptions. For instance, a well rolling eth titan can be worth more than 20x its non-upp'd counterpart.
Rerolling
Rerolling allows players to swap out a weapon or armor upgrade to one with different stats. This feature can be used to gain more value from an upgrade, since it doesn't affect the item upgrades’s level or bonus. Click on the box icon of the Best Item Upgrade and choose "Reroll". The new upgrade will be random and the original's bonuses will not be restored.
Rerolling is a popular activity in Genshin Impact, and many other gacha games. It involves creating a new account and Best Item Upgrade trying again until the player gets the character or weapon they desire.
