Automotive Locksmith Key Programming
Modern vehicles require some form of key programming. Based on the car keys programmed's make and model, the process could be as simple as onboard programming keys with a spare working key or as complex as EEPROM or OBD2 programming.
Most US and Asian automobile manufacturers share their programming protocols with auto key programmers tool manufacturers so that they can develop tools and hardware for automotive locksmiths to use.
Transponder Chips
Most newer cars use what are called transponder chips to stop car theft. These are small computer microchips that emit radio signals at a low level. The microchips are equipped with a unique serial number which authenticates your key whenever you plug it into the ignition barrel. If your vehicle does not recognize the signal it will shut down. This technology has been an enormous success in preventing auto key programmers theft. This technology has also helped reprogram car key owners save a good amount of money as they do not have to purchase new cars.
