A tourist won the $1.3million (£1million) jackpot playing on a Wheel of Fortune slot machine at an airport.

The player secured the prize money on the Wheel of Fortune Triple Double Emeralds game in Terminal 1 of Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas.

A user named Derek Nicoletto shared a video of a machine and wrote on Twitter last week: 'Someone just won the 1.3 million jackpot on the slot machine at the airport!' 

The airport retweeted his video and congratulated the tourist. It also shared the story on Instagram and Facebook.

'That's one way to end a vacation — as a MILLIONAIRE!' the airport wrote.

Slot machines in the terminals have created more than $1billion (£790,000) in revenue over the last 36 years, according to The Las Vegas Review-Journal and KVVU-TV.

Michael Gaughan Airport Slot Concession, Inc., which operates more than 1,400 slots in the Las Vegas airport, announced the milestone in October last year. 

On average, they amassed $39.8million (£31million) in gross revenue per year, the company said. The airport took around $34.4million (£27million) of this each year.
