Safety
In accordance with the American Academy of Pediatrics' recommendation that infants sleep in the same bed with their parents cosleeping (a practice that is also known as bed-sharing) has gained popularity among many expecting and new parents. The Academy says that sharing rooms is safer than sleeping with babies in the same bed because it reduces instances of Sudden Unexpected Death in Infants or SIDS. The AAP does not recommend bed-sharing however, it does recommend that co-sleeping on an individual sleeping surface is a good way to lower the risk of SIDS.
