Because with the very low water absorption index (0.4 %), slate is a top-notch rate roofing material. Damage due to extreme frost and breakage caused by freezing temperatures are problems that ordinary roof shingles encounter. Due to its low water absorption index, slate roofing shingles would not suffer by way of the either frost damage or breakage since of cold elements.
Mark any slate tiles to be slashed to fit the edges of the installation with a grease pencil and straight edge. Cut the slate on a tile wet saw and double-check designed to suit with one other tiles. Use any particularly thin or Stepstone Paver restoration for historical charm thick tiles as cuts to minimize the working surface to even out.
