World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to an item are a way to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it may increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level and boost additional stats.
Each item upgrading comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade item increases the cost of the next one by a certain amount.

The value of an item upgrades's basic stats increases when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of an item upgrader's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive depending on the upgrader you choose and what type of upgrade you choose to perform. This is due to how many perks have to be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.
It is also used as a gating requirement while waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It can also be used to determine a gating condition when waiting to queue for dungeons and scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to the lower levels).
